A new generation of Nobbys Nippers Start the Carnival Season in Style

Eleven Nobbys Nippers attended Caves Beach carnival on Saturday in very cold, windy and choppy conditions. A good northerly sweep was challenging for some of our younger competitors. Well done to our 1st place getters U9 Cohen Bunn in flags and beach sprints, U10 Taj Lowry in the beach sprint and taking out 2nd place in the flags in his first carnival and U15 Jasmine Thomas winning both the flags and beach sprints. Well done to U12 Kobey Pitkin taking out 3rd place in the flags with a 5th place in the  sprint, U12  Finlay Bawden taking 6th place in the flags.

In the water 9th places go to U9 Cohen Bunn in the surf race and U12 Kobey Pitkin in the board race. Kobey took out 10th place in the surf race with Finlay Bawden coming in 11th. Well done to U10 Taj Bunn taking out 12 place in the boards and 14th place in the surf swim. A huge congratulations to Jack Saunders and Ben Shearer finishing middle of the pack in the board race with Jack taking 12th and Ben 14th. This was an excellent result and shows what extra winter training sessions with Nobbys and by themselves achieve. However this will make them great lifesavers which is what the board work is really all about.

Thanks to Andrew Pitkin in his new role as Junior Carnival Co-ordinator looking after the kids, recording results and transporting boards, Brad Thomas for setting up the cans before the carnival started, Natasha Ryan and Julia Stroud-Watts for officiating on the day and Tracey Shearer for water safety.
